The home textile industry is a traditional pillar sector and a vital component of people’s livelihoods. In recent years, despite continuous improvements in product quality, there remains an insufficient supply of mid- to high-end products, and certain segments still face temporary, structural overcapacity. As the industry’s traditional competitive advantages erode and consumer demand for higher-quality home textiles rises, the low-cost competitive model is becoming increasingly unsustainable, making quality enhancement an urgent priority.
In response, Chen Gang, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, explicitly urged that a campaign to enhance the quality of textile products be launched—with the utmost effort and determination, precise targeting of key areas, and firm focus on critical points—to ensure tangible results. It is essential to improve the overarching quality management mechanism, uphold the dual-drive approach of technological innovation and quality enhancement, fully leverage the primary role of enterprises in quality management, innovate quality supervision and service models, and build domestically owned brands with international influence. All textile enterprises should recognize the overarching trend of consumption upgrading, accurately identify customer quality needs, increase investment in quality innovation, and continuously advance product quality upgrades. In particular, leading and backbone enterprises should take the lead in adopting modern design concepts and promoting smart manufacturing and green manufacturing.
In addition, relevant textile and quality associations should earnestly strengthen the exchange of advanced textile technologies, develop industry-specific group standards, promote advanced quality management practices, diligently gather information on international market access, and support enterprises in overcoming technical barriers to trade. All testing institutions, higher education institutions, and research organizations should improve their support systems for technological innovation and talent development, enhance the training of quality professionals, break through bottlenecks in industry-wide quality and technology, and reinforce quality-related technical support.
