This forum, themed “The Future Path of Textiles,” ushers in a new dialogue on textile industry cooperation between the Asian continent and the Mediterranean region—a theme that aligns seamlessly with the overarching theme of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing over the past two days: “Strengthening International Cooperation, Jointly Building the Belt and Road, and Achieving Win-Win Development.” At the Forum, President Xi Jinping emphasized that we must build the Belt and Road into a road of peace, prosperity, openness, innovation, and cultural exchange. This vision has also provided the guiding theme for our current forum.

On the morning of September 21, the inaugural meeting and first general assembly of the Jiangshan City Textile and Apparel Industry Association were held. Wang Liyun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and head of the Publicity Department, attended the event. The meeting adopted the association’s articles of association and industry codes of conduct and elected Jiang Feng, director of Zhejiang Jiansheng Group Co., Ltd. and general manager of the Jiangshan base, as the association’s president. At present, the Jiangshan City Textile and Apparel Industry Association has 60 member units.

From September 22 to 24, the 2017 Hunan Apparel Industry Expo and Lushong Apparel Festival, themed “Coming Together in Unity—Jointly Driving New Development in the Apparel Industry,” was held. On the opening day of the festival, a high-level forum on apparel industry development was convened, under the guidance of the China National Textile and Apparel Council and co-hosted by the Council’s Circulation Branch, the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, and the Zhuzhou Municipal People’s Government, with support and co-organization from local governments and numerous industry associations.
